The last time,I taught about \*Sunscreen\* Class is in session. Let's talk about \*Adrogens Receptors\* , shall we?? I know the skincare industry (myself inclusive) has said it's your pillowcase, your phone , it's the side you sleep on, it's the products you use on your hair . Scientifically, they don't make much sense, although, dirty pillowcases and areas that receives more friction are aggravative factors that can worsen your acne but they're not causative factors. If you're breaking out more on one side of your face this video is for you. Sit tight! We're in for a ride. Your skin has something called \*Androgen receptors\*. Think of Androgen receptors as a 'light switch '. They're tiny switches that sit in your pores and respond to testosterone. They respond to Androgen hormones. This is where it gets interesting. The androgen receptors are not distributed evenly across the face . Some areas of your face may have higher density of Androgen receptors , some areas may equally have more sensitivity to the androgen receptors which is why you keep breaking out recurrently in that same spot i.e you have more Androgen receptors on that side of your face. Basically, anytime there's a spike in your androgen levels, this spike turns on the "switch" when you consume things like dairy, over processed food, your stress levels are high, or you're on your period or ovulating, this "switch" is turned on which leads to more production of oil , there's more clogging of the pores which leads to the recurrent acne You'd always notice that this acne only reoccurs on the same side of the face. Products that can treat it are serums and toner pads rich in mandelic acids, etc. [All posts](https://toriskinsecrets.shop/blog) --- [Store overview](https://toriskinsecrets.shop/) · [Products](https://toriskinsecrets.shop/products) · [Categories](https://toriskinsecrets.shop/category) · [Blog](https://toriskinsecrets.shop/blog)
